Yellow Army frustrate Reds

Yellow Army frustrate Reds

Match Analysis:

The Reds were off to an attacking start with Ronaldo hitting the foot of the bar from a pin-point cross of Wan-bissaka. Watford survived the early threat. Ragnick started with a double pivot with Fred and Matic with Pogba up behind Ronaldo and Bruno and Elanga the wide options. While Watford started with a 4-1-4-1 formation with Louza in the holding role. United were constantly attacking, having the ball but couldn't get the ball inside the net. Roy Hodgson's
men were happy to stay back and defend. The Watford team showed extreme determination in their defence, especially the 27 year old Samir. He was the main player in the Watford side, clearing and not allowing any crosses from the right hand side. United created a total of 22 attempts out of which only 3 were on target. This only shows, the lack of consistency the team is in.
I think the way Sancho has picked up his form after his poor start in his new club, he must start every game. The amount of skill he has is absolutely phenomenal. He has the ability to dribble past players and put the ball in the box for someone to score. I think Ragnick should be brave enough to sub off Ronaldo. He is not in his top form surely. And he his 37 - he doesn't need to play 90 minutes. I think the player who played the best in the United side was Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He was ruling the right flank, not allowing a single player to run with the ball. That is his signature. He maybe a defensive full back but the tackles he make are just outstanding. Wan-bissaka with his speed can also provide width in attacks also.
The main drawback United is facing is they don't have an organised play style. They are playing good football but in parts. There is no flow in their style, no structured attacks. Though Ragnick has just lost 2 games since his arrival, he has dropped many points through draws. United are just failing to win matches. Arsenal are 2 points below United, but with 3 games in hand. If Arsenal wins their games, United would fail to qualify for the Champions League yet again. The Reds need to improve their style of play and the players need to have a better understanding of each other.

 Starting XI :

David de Gea in goal-no question about that. Varane and Lindelof as the centre backs with
Luke Shaw and Wan-bissaka as the full backs. Wan-Bissaka over Dalot, just because of the extra defensive stability Wan-Bissaka brings in. In the midfield, McTominay alongside Pogba. They both can play the holding position as well as run with the ball. I'd give McTominay the holding role, while Pogba having the freedom to run with the ball, switching flanks. Between the match, they both can switch the roles confusing the opponent players. Then up ahead the midfiled, Bruno Fernandes acts as the provider. He widens the play, to the wings, and striker. Sancho and Elanga on each of the wings. With their speed and dribbling they bring balance in the forward. Elanga is a young potential, if given enough opportunity he will shine bright. And finally Ronaldo as the centre target man. In the second half, of course according the match, I'd bring Rashford on for Ronaldo. Rashford can play wide as well as a striker. Lingard should also be given a chance. Fred and Pogba can be switched in the late 70 minutes.
